CE's Starfleet Vessel Database

Hi there,

Fow a while now I've been working on my Starfleet Vessel Database, a fully interactive database with all the Starfleet ships that have appear in the various TV shows over the years, as well as a few custom-made designs to fill in some of the gaps!!.

Here is the Title Screen of my new Database, it is a fully interactive scene so try it out and press a few buttons!!

Here's another update,

This is the Main Menu for my Ship Database, it shows all the vessel types currently used by Starfleet Command. Once complete all these buttons will link to the various vessel types. So if you press "Heavy Cruiser" it will show all the starfleet Heavy Cruisers etc.

I've also tweaked the colourscheme a little, to give it a DS9 feel and edited the Starship Diagrams. I'll post some animated screenies of this later in the week. Let me know what you think, all comments welcome!! :D

You can navigate between vessel entries by pressing the arrow keys. This file is only a sample, just so you folks can see how it works.

The Poseidon, hrmm... I take it you meen the BC Ship!?, It's funny that you've suggested that, I'm planning a follow-up module once this is completed. It will showcase future federation Starship Classes and upgrades, I plan on the Poseidon being in that pack, along with the Excalibur, Dawnstar and several others.

As for Screensavers, it's possible to get some freeware to create Flash Wallpapers & Screensavers. Couls be a nice little download for people!!

Very very nice! It flows quite well together. Where did you get all those "specs"?... they look very canon.

My only suggestion would be to change the font of "Light Cruiser" to the regular LCARS font. 'cause we all know that the 24th century OS only have one type of font ;)

I found the specs for various ships in a book called the Starship Spotter written by Robert Bonchune and Adam "mojo" Lebowitz. I've since modified some of these and taken into account thing's like:- Size inaccuracies, Incorrect Weapons specs especially Phasers etc. Another great book is the Ds9 Tech Manual, but that to is full of errors. The Ex Astris Scientia site also had some useful articles on Starship sizes which helped!!.

As for your suggestion of a font change, I like the current font. But I'll experiment with it and post some pictures in a little while. Thnx for the suggestion Ex.

As explorer suggested earlier I've altered the Title font of the Vessel Intro Screen here is a quick pic of it:-

Hi again folks,

Here is another (mini) update. With all the Capital Ships completed, I've started work on the Science and Medical Vessels. Seeing as these ships fill a specific role with Starfleet and don't fit in with mainstream Starfleet Vessels I've decided that the colourscheme for these ships should be slightly different to signify this.

So here you go...

That's a good question!!

Well considering I've had to completely rebuild it and start from scratch twice, I've probably been working on this project since the beginning of the New Year.

It's the animating and scripting all the button actions which takes the longest amount of time. I've spent a lot of time getting this Database just how I want it, but if you have any suggestions at all then please post 'em here, I want it to be as canon as possible lol.

Once finished, this database should have over 100 vessel classes in the database.



Can't wait untill you finish it, this will rock bigtime :)

UPDATE

Hi again folks, it's definitely been a while since I updated this thread but I am finally making head-way with this project again.

A couple of setbacks, most notably a HDD failure have slowed the completion of this project down considerably, it's a good thing I have backups!! !amazed

However I have began work on the support ship entries and as things stand all the Freighter's and Cargo Vessels are done, here are a couple of pics...

I'm really glad you like it. I agree that there is more to Star Trek than just Starships, I would have liked to see a few more Freighters, Transports and other Support Ships featured in the series, It's a shame really!!. !lol
