I found that GTKRadiant mapping program for Elite Force allows for export of Map brushes into Max, so I converted a couple of the decks from my RPG Voyager Map, and have been learning about utilising proper materials. All the textures are Explorers from the STVCOI Mod.

These are good, and I agree with explorer the rendering makes the difference and also makes them so real. Cool work indeed.

How did you export them from GTKRadiant? As I am trying to modify EF1 to be more canon and updated

Hi cpthooker,
welcome to the LCARS Community Forums.

Sadly Kathryn-Johnston hasn't visited the forums since April. I still have her on my msn contacts. I'll ask Kathryn-Johnston the information as soon as she's online.

Thanks for the welcome. Just reinstalled EF1 recently and have been replacing textures from what we did in the engine room, the transporter I did and the bridge from BC. But Wanted to improve the chairs etc, all the proper screens on etc as some are just repeated.

This might be against the rules but I have just now found these forums again and was looking for any replies I had to make!

Unfortunately it's been so long that I can't remember the exact procedure! I did one method whereby I compiled the map using the GTK compiler into an ASE (?) model file. I then was able to convert that to a .obj file to export into max.

I also found a program online which can read a huge amount of different file types including .map files. I used this to convert another map file into a .obj file for use in max. If I can remember the program name, I will post it here!
