Hi everyone. Here I want to start a new thread about datasheets for different planets from the Star Trek universe. Itīs called "Planet of the Day". Hey deif, I think you know it from another place!

The planet is also part of my first "STL" issue.

I have to agree with you there Deif, its good to see these again.
Oh and I guess its time for me to welcome you here Kmprīrak.
Thanks for posting all your nice work.

Thumbs up!

Kmprīrak

Thank you! Itīs cool to be here, thanks to deif who gave me a hint!

Yes, the "P.o.t.D.", I think it was a good idea to revive it.* ;D

Kmprīrak
08-13-2009, 03:49 PM
Two new things, I think theyīre are familiar!*

Kmprīrak
08-18-2009, 09:12 PM
Another new one, this time a moon!* :)

deif
08-18-2009, 09:51 PM
nice moon. bad memories for jean-luc picard, isn't it?

Kmprīrak
08-18-2009, 09:55 PM
I think bad memories for OīBrien and Captain Maxwell. If you think on Picard, you mean perhaps Celtris III?

deif
08-18-2009, 11:03 PM
uupps..... :o Ļyou're right, my klingonfriend. bad memories for o'brien. too late for memories for captn. maxwell...* :'(

Kmprīrak, these are very good, you will need to put these into a portfolio as a reference guide.

Kmprīrak
08-21-2009, 01:36 PM
Nice idea. I will see what I can do!* :D

Kmprīrak
08-25-2009, 10:29 AM
I played around a little bit. It is only a test version!*

I know, it is a large file!

deif
08-25-2009, 04:14 PM
wow. nice data sheet. i see, you worked a lot with the lunar cell plugin...;-)

Kmprīrak
08-25-2009, 05:17 PM
YES!!! I like it, and Iīve asked the company about the images Iīve created, about selling or presenting and .....* The answer came and was like "It is like an artist and the colors. What the artist is making with the colors is his thing!"* ;D

Kmprīrak
09-03-2009, 08:03 PM
MARS!!!* * Could be a controverse if Mars is still a red planet in the 24th century!*

deif
09-03-2009, 09:02 PM
good to see the red planet as one of the major worlds of federation.
i found a lot of good terraformed mars pics and like to show you one, wich i found very realistic. sorry, i can't give proper credits, but it's definitly not from me. found it o nthe net somewhere...

Kmprīrak
09-04-2009, 12:01 PM
Yep, I know this image. I think it is a problem that was thrown off in "Best of Both Worlds" from TNG. I think Mars was red there!* :-[

deif
09-04-2009, 01:08 PM
didn't intend to correct your work. i know, that terraforming will take a long period of decades if not centuries. so i posted this pic just to show how it could look like - one day in future.... just for fun!

Kmprīrak
09-05-2009, 01:38 PM
Yes, youīre right. Well, if we make it to Mars until 2103? With permanent colonies???* ;D

Kmprīrak

Time to revive!

Lexar II. A planet I invented for one of my books in 1998!

deif
02-25-2010, 10:53 PM
i like revivals.....!

Kmprīrak
02-26-2010, 09:43 AM
I thought you do!!!

Kmprīrak
02-27-2010, 03:58 PM
A corrected Lexar II and a Klingon Concept of Quīmar V.

deif
02-27-2010, 05:25 PM
the klingon concept is a great idea! go ahead!

mtblillie
03-01-2010, 04:18 PM
I like the klingon one that is pretty cool! Maybe you should do like the different terretorial planets in their respective government designs (just a suggestion, looks pretty cool either way). Of coarse then translations are a pain, but its still pretty neat!

Kmprīrak
03-01-2010, 07:20 PM
I put a frame around yesterday.

deif
03-01-2010, 08:32 PM
yep. that look even better......more!

Kmprīrak
03-02-2010, 02:30 PM

deif

Kmprīrak
03-03-2010, 06:10 PM

03-05-2010, 01:55 PM
Hi tap! Cool to see you here! Finally I think we all are slowly moving from "over there" to here! :-D

Thank you for your comments, I also post at Sci-Fi-Meshes now, and of course, here! I donīt know if I will stay any more at "over there" (I like this) for longer time. Too much spam, no replies from Joe if you ask him, hm, I donīt know!

Yeah, I agree. The spam issue is getting out of hand. Just today there are about 6 new threads. No one is minding the store it seems.

I like it here. The people are welcoming, the art is fantastic, and the fact that I can post my flash files is a plus for me!

Look forward to seeing some more great BG stuff from you too!

Thank you. Here another one, Prionos V.

deif
03-11-2010, 07:44 PM
great PoD. it was surprising for me, that there is cardassian-romulan border....? according to the starcharts from geoffrey mandel (semi-canon, i think) there is federation between them. just my two cents.

Kmprīrak
03-12-2010, 01:18 PM
And that is the problem. Deep Space Nine established it, because the Romulans were able to fight the Dominion conquered Cardassians, and I do not think they crossed a large part of the Federation.

I thought long about to establish a Romulan-Cardassian border within my work, but I decided to do so.

deif
03-12-2010, 04:00 PM
i agree with you. but if you think about the abilty to cloak their ships, i think, romulans and klingons can travel through federation space without problems anyway. nobody will see and detect them...LOL!

Kmprīrak
03-12-2010, 05:22 PM
That is right. But after the "BIG 3" formed an alliance again the Dominion, I think they would use it for scout missions or whatever, but NOT to bring vessels and troops to the fronts.

And in my opinion, the Romulans and Cardassians have not a classic border, only some systems or so are lying directly near to the others.

deif
03-12-2010, 05:38 PM
And in my opinion, the Romulans and Cardassians have not a classic border, only some systems or so are lying directly near to the others.

OooH! i like that explication...! you confirm my conviction, that territories in space are more or less incoherent clusters of systems and planets. thnx;-)

Kmprīrak
03-12-2010, 08:29 PM
I do not think the empires are flat or sheric buildings, I imagine them like unshaped bubbles or something like that!

deif
03-12-2010, 08:32 PM
my thoughts, kmpr_rak, my thoughts!

Kmprīrak
03-13-2010, 12:46 PM
Great! Because some people do not think so.

And although "Star Trek Charts" from Mandel are GREAT work, I also prefer the "Star Trek Maps", because they show more 3D on 2D as the "Charts". I hope you know what I mean.

And I like the Galactic Coordinates, as you know! :-D

A concept for a new different thing deif brought me to: A "PLANET OF THE DAY CALENDAR".

365 worlds, every day one!
Here a first sketch!

More soon!

yep. you got it!
look froward to the PoD-calendar....

Kmprīrak
03-23-2010, 07:38 PM
I developed the following guideline as a first step: the number of planets shown in the calendar for every power.

United Federation of Planets: 103
Klingon Empire: 28
Romulan Star Empire: 27
Cardassian Union: 24
Breen Confederacy: 12
Independent Worlds: 19
Ferengi Alliance: 15
Gorn Hegemony: 13
Orion Trading Federation: 14
Tholian Assembly: 11
Tzenkethi Coalition: 13
Vagabond Planets: 5
Borg Collective: 15
Kazon Sects: 19
Krowtonan Guard: 5
Malon Cooperative: 9
The Hierarchy: 7
Vidiian Sodality: 12
Argratha Unity: 6
The Dominion: 8

Only a first sketch, but the work goes on!

deif
03-24-2010, 09:57 AM
look you'll be very creative....LOL! look forward to that.

Kmprīrak
03-24-2010, 01:46 PM

I do not think the empires are flat or sheric buildings, I imagine them like unshaped bubbles or something like that!

I agree with you guys, space is 3D, not a flat surface like Earth, it would have to be shaped more like a blob than a sphere. There is a picture out there of a 3D rendering of the "local bubble (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Bubble)" within the "local fluff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Interstellar_Cloud)", I like to think of that as being a similar example.

The rendering can be found here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:LocalBubble.png).

Kmprīrak

One more!

Kmprīrak
04-09-2010, 06:17 PM
Some more and a late easter egg!

Kmprīrak
05-28-2010, 07:01 PM
Work goes on very straight on the calendar. I will start selling it at the end of the year, the possible money Iīll take goes to the charity project I support, I think that is a good idea to help the children with that. When someone has deserved it, then the kids!

It will not be too expensive! :-D

Kmprīrak
05-29-2010, 05:54 PM
Some more images and concepts.

Echo is very low on these things, but it is an attempt to make something good for the kids I support.

deif
05-29-2010, 07:09 PM
you know. i'm one of your fans, my colonial-klingon friend! please send me a calendar....as sonn as available.

Kmprīrak

Another uncommon concept from me.

The writings are barely readable here, but it is only a screenshot, the original looks better !!!

Calendar is nearly finished!

Kmprīrak
10-30-2010, 05:50 PM
After I have nearly finished the calendar (only some minor work to do), I have changed its style a little bit. It is not exactly the known LCARS or my ACARS look, but I think it looks better than the old style!

j.anderson
10-30-2010, 08:22 PM
it's SCARS (square computer access and retrieval system)... just joking.

it certainly is different. part of me likes, part of me is looking at it puzzled.

I guess it takes some getting used to.

Kmprīrak
10-31-2010, 01:16 PM
Well, I thought like that, but I think it is better than the old look which was not really good looking at all.
WEll, SCARS, why not ....

Kmprīrak
11-08-2010, 12:39 PM
The calendar is finished, selling starts next week, November 15th. If someone is interested, PM me!

Kmprīrak
11-18-2010, 09:20 PM
A "Charity Blog"?

j.anderson
11-18-2010, 09:23 PM
Why not? It would be more visible 2 months from now than it will be here, lost between 5 billion other posts.

Plus, you could keep people up to date on the topic, such as: how much money was raised, what the charity did with it, etc.

I think this deserves it's own blog but that's just my opinion.

Kmprīrak
11-19-2010, 11:34 AM
Well, the idea is great!
