Hi Folks.
A few of my followers on SFM have been bugging me to do an Excelsior Class MSD since I began doing MSDs.
I finally decided to do one.

I noticed the Excelsior class ships in TNG and DS9 all featured nacelles that glowed blue from the grills on the side of the nacelles. I attribute this to new warp systems, like a new engine in an otherwise perfectly functional car. It's obvious this class of ship, like the Miranda, endured the tests of time and when we see plenty of them making up the bulk of the fleets in the DS9 war arc, its clear they are still very capable ships. A new core and set of nacelles doesn't appear to be out of the question.
So, based on the official MSD for the ENT-B I made this MSD for a ship I named after a place in which I once lived as a child and have many many fond memories of.

Very nice. The torp launcher high in the neck seems to be aimed at part of the ship, though. It's normally thought to be a few decks lower. And shouldn't there be an aft torp launcher high in the fantail?

Yes, the torpedo launcher in the neck is a little high, but it is precisely where they are situated according to the model and external diagrams. Personally I do not think they were envisioned as torpedo launchers and what we see on the model was basically something to add features to the otherwise unremarkable neck. I added them in as otherwise, I'd be getting too many "You forgot the launchers" comments ::)

As for the aft launcher. I kept that to the original Excelsior spec. So the two we can see mounted at the rear of the ship are the only ones. Personally, I don't think she needs any more. 6 forward tubes and 1 rear tubes would seem to suffice in by books.

Besides all the on screen evidence shows that not every ship is identical to others in the same class.
