    Default Equinox Bridge Displays

    It's that time again,
Let's start a new set. This time the second Starfleet ship lost in the delta quadrant.

This one was giving me quite a dilema. Let's be honnest here. This bridge is 95% the same as the Prometheus. But the timeline of the ship does't match with the prometheus. And this affects some of the visual aspects of the displays. For exemple you know those silver elbows trimming seen on almost all LCARS displays on Voyager and the Defiant. Well since the Equinox was build and was in service at about the same time as Voyager, you would think that it would be the same for it. And you would be right. For every room except the bridge. If you take the time to look at some close up of the bridge, you'll notice that they are all in gold.

I have decided for once, to go against canon and make them silver to look more like Voyager.

Here you have the first figure for this set, the Equinox MSD. I actully love how it turned out. Looks very Voyagerish yet it still looks very accurate.

    Enjoy!

    Thanks mtblillie
here's the next displays and this time it's the helm/conn.

I had another problem with this one. With all my research I found out that they didn't even produce two different display for this station. This means that both helm LCARS images are an exact copy. Not even flipped. Anyway, that's why in my first attachments, I've put it as it is on the show.

fig. 002 and fig. 002 a very straight forward static LCARS following the Voyager colour scheme.

Now I also did a very simple custom interpretation of what it could look like if the production crew had a little more time.

fig. 003 is my own (very quick) version for the helm. A basic flipped version of fig. 002 with some minor changes and colour variation.

    enjoy!

I like the flipped on better. I was trying to do some of these graphics before as well, and I also noticed that it was the same station twice. The way it is set up I'm not really sure if it is supposed to be a single station like on Voyager or two separate stations like on other ships. I also found it difficult to figure out how to compensate for the part of the display that is folded over on the bottom. It really seems like they threw that set together in a hurry, not many of the consoles are consistant with the typical displays that are seen on the hero ships, but then again that is show-biz!

    Good job!

I like the colors on the MSD as well. Voyager and Nemesis being my favs. Also one of my favorite ship profiles, very sleek!. I like the helm panels too, although I'm not sure about the gradient colors. Is that accurate to the display, or are you simulating the uneven backlighting of the console? I could be wrong, but that appears to be very noticeable in the screencaps, and not inherent to the displays themselves. Possibly the result of a "thrown together" set, put forth by mtblillie?

    Thanks guys.

As for the gradient. It's a filter that I've added on all my panel ever since I started doing full sets. It is infact to simulate a backlit effect.

I've attached a picture without the backlit effect to show you how the colour look.

    Enjoy!

Ok. then we're on the same page. I've heard arguments to the fact that the Voyager LCARS used gradient colors, and I always maintained it was lighting issues. That last screencap you posted really shows this. I mean, come on guys, replace the bad bulbs before you shoot the scene, will ya. They probably thought no one would notice or care.

Your use of the gradients to simulate the actual prop gives it depth and realism. Thanks for posting the "flat"version too.
