    Exclamation Forum Rules

I have decided to starts laying out some rules in order get a more active community and to help increase the speed of our forums.

    Members Restriction
    • The animation forums will be restricted to registered members. At the moment, unregistered guest can not view any attachments, why could they see the animations?
    • Downloads will be available for registered members only. This includes all Freebies.
    • Albums are restricted to registered members.

    Poll and Discussion Rules
    • We encourage people to vote and explain their choices.
    • We welcome debates on subjects as long as it remains civilized and enjoyable to everyone.
    • We ask that every member respects each other.

    Account Expiration
    • Starting December 10th, 2010 a user who hasn't logged in to the community for more than a year and who has never posted (comments of forum post) will get their accounts deleted.
    • Next database clean-up is scheduled for March 2011.

I will be making more as I go,
but please let me know what you all think before I start implementing this.

rules are okay, but be careful with regulations...too much of them can block a forum. until now this forum was very enjoyable and i appreciate the contact wirth everyone here.thnx to all.

I don't have a problem removing registered users who haven't made a single post and haven't visited the site again since their sign up over the past 3 months or more (3 conditions).

I wouldn't remove a user who has say 20 some posts and then suddenly doesn't post for 4 months (they could be sick or on extended hollidays) or someones who signs in regulary but doesn't post.

I also would leave some content visible for unregistered users. Maybe one page or one topic or so (unregistered members area), as a sample (be aware of spam).

I'm making these to increase the acknowledgments from our community, not to dictate our users. I am very well aware of what you are referring to deif, and I will try to retain the same "enjoyment". As for regulations, I have renamed it to "Forum Rules".

Thanks John, what do you think of the revised rule?

Starting December 10th, 2010 a user who hasn't logged in to the community for more than a year and who has never posted (comments of forum post) will get their accounts deleted.

I think that's very generous. If there is no activity for a year or more, I believe it's safe to assume they aren't interested in the site (anymore). I would even find 6 months acceptable under those rules.

I also believe it would be safe to assume, that if someone who is a regular contributor or poster plans a long "leave of absence", that such user would let the forum or the administrators know something (like Robert did when he moved). In such case, exemptions could be made (for example the account could be "temporary frozen"). For example, if deif or adge suddenly wouldn't post for 6 or 7 months, that would be something entirely different from say user 'X' who joined dec 29 2008 and never again logged in or posted after that date (I hope I am making sense here).

In the end, it is all at the admin's discretion.

I am simply expressing my opinions here, not telling anybody what to do.

I think the rules are perfectly reasonable, and seem to be relatively common among these communities. Even if you are here just to get cool images and such, it is perfectly reasonable to ask that they at least post a "good work" or "thanks for posting your work" comment to stay current. Here I haven't posted much because my computer is down and will be for a while, but sites like scifi-meshes for example I don't use 3d rendering, so I just go on the site to browse. I gladly post an "awsome scene" to keep my membership current, it is great that you can go in and browse everyone's awsome work!
