Now I found the correct forum to indroduce myself ;)

Hey all. I´m Chris and a great Star Trek fan from Germany so excuse my very bad English. I´m a member in this forum since a few days. I only found these nice forum through contingency (google picture search about LCARS).

My special hobby are also LCARS displays and I searched people interested especial in LCARS panels a long time (not really lot of people are interested in...) My passion is to assemble "real" authentic displays as possible. So for that I tried almost everything to find out how exactly they did the panels in the original Star Trek series. First of all I wrote members on yourprops.com which had original LCARS. I want them to describe me the exact assembly but they only could send me pictures and could not give me exact information. Then I looked in the internet in some different forums (also on okudagrams.com and asked Jose Ralat the LCARS "god"). I asked Sir Okuda and Rick Sternbach but they also told me that the couldn't give me exactly informations. Then I owned a original screen used Voyager backlit LCARS PROP. But is it not easy to find out how they do the assembly because it seems these are different layers and without destroying the PROP I can´t find it out. But what I could see is that the plex seems to be clear if you look from the side. When you look from the front of the display it is completely dark. How do they do this that the graphic only will appear when the backlit is illuminated!?

I then bought copies of original Voyager blueprints. Since that time I have had the exactly informations about the LCARS assembly.

I also decided to create a LCARS forum. At that time I did not know this nice LCARS community. The forum is in two different languages (english and german) but it is first and foremost for the english speaking Star Trek fans. But this forum enables also the exchange between US and german Star Trek fans. The forum is engaged with some of my own LCARS projects. In my forum you could see the planning of the different projects in every single step. You could follow the projects from the LCARS graphics to the ready illuminated LCARS backlit panels.

It is also possible to diskuss the different projects, to show your own PROPS (self made and screen used), you could sell and buy PROPs, you can vote for projects...

I like this forum and it is enviable to have such a nice community. I hope to get my own community at any time because I like to coach a forum.

I´m Chris not Christian ;) might be that you gave me the adress of this forum... No I´m not on the FedCon. I have never been on a FedCon so far. Why do you ask me that?
