Thread: Special Request

    To answer your question: I browsed the net to look at images of leprechauns and fire fighter logos, then came up with a concept which I drew with pencil and paper, scanned the image onto the computer and then worked it out in illustrator.

    My key thoughts were:

    - It has to be a leprechaun (at least, that is what you requested);
    - The district number (8) has to be clearly visible;
    - It has to be a firefighter (daring and dedicated) therefore one hand up, as if to say: "let's go men";
    - A determined look on the face (we mean business);
    - The theme is Irish, therefore the shamrock and the use of green, white and orange;
    - Red hair to symbolize fire;
    - And last but not least, style and class (the bowtie, like a real gentleman).

    Since I assume the final product will be a vinyl decal (that's how it's usualy done for fire trucks, police cars and emergency vehicles), I know better as to use extremely complex drawings. Vinyl printers have their limitations.

    Remeber this is only a proposal, not a final product. The final product would a bit more spiced up with highlights and shades.

    FYI: the size of the decal would be 60 cm by 60 cm (that's about 2 ft by 2 ft). I believe that's the standard size.

    I love the two designs that have appeared :)
    Must there be a character in it at all ?

    No, it is open to anything, but the Cheif was leaning toward the leprechaun (good thought in design J.Anderson!!!!). It can be anything to symbolize the department, something we can be proud to put on our trucks. I hand drew an 8 ball (district 8) with a fire helmet on it, something I had seen when I was in the Civil Air Patrol (the blue berets of CAP have an 8 ball with a blue beret on it).
